Number Four - A Reset

Do you regularly check the news and find yourself upset or emotional after absorbing the presented information?
That used to be me. Prior to going "all-in" with writing, I found myself overly involved with social media current event and political drama. As a more moderate and common sense voter (as I like to say), I can see both sides. With only two parties to choose from in the United States, the polarization of issues has created multiple layers of extremes.
Sometimes I agree that a change is needed, and a new way to tackle particular issues is necessary. On the other hand, sometimes the best solution is to seek ways that have previously been explored. Now, I know this is an oversimplification of liberalism and conservatism, but my point remains. We have political opposition and discussion to determine the best solution at the time. Political discourse is necessary many times.
Having said that, I used to get fired up about political stuff. And the truth is... I didn't like who I was becoming. So, a complete reset was in order. Most of my social media experience and consumption now revolves around writing and/or sharing my life with others. I'll also post the occasional meme on Twitter 😆!
One thing I've found since unplugging from the warring political silos on social media is that I am far happier. I think there's something that we've all (Millennials such as myself and the older generations) have had to learn with regard to online content:
YOU MUST CURRATE YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE
Since sort of starting over on Twitter, I have found a community of wonderful writers. So far, everyone has been very welcoming as well as cheerleaders in a way. We care about our community members succeeding. It's genuine and refreshing. I'm glad to have found a niche group of people, all grinding away together, to experience this journey of writing with.
When my books are finally published and my name is more well known, I know they will be proud of my accomplishments, just as I am/will be of theirs!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
